Destination Wedding Photography & Videography frequently asked questions
- How is this service priced?
- Modern Era Weddings uses day-rate pricing rather than hourly billing — your DJ, photo, and video packages cover unlimited hours on the day of your event. Photo booth packages run a fixed 5 hours of active rental time (additional hours are available as an upgrade). Pricing depends on the artist or DJ you choose, venue location, equipment needs, and whether the service is part of a multi-event Signature Wedding Weekend. Every couple receives a custom quote within 24 hours of submitting a consultation request.
- Where is this service available?
- This service is available throughout Southwest Florida (Naples, Marco Island, Sarasota, Tampa, Fort Myers), the Florida Keys (Upper Keys: Key Largo & Islamorada; Middle Keys: Marathon & Duck Key; and Key West), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes regions of New York. Travel is also available for destination weddings in the Berkshires, the Poconos, the DC metro, and nationwide.
- How far in advance should I book?
- For peak season (October-May in Florida, May-October in Pittsburgh) we recommend booking 9 to 12 months in advance. Off-season and short-notice bookings are accepted when availability allows.
- Is the photography team in-house or subcontracted?
- Our photography team operates under the Modern Era Weddings umbrella as part of one creative team alongside the DJ, lighting, and video divisions. This means coordination between the photographer and the DJ/emcee is built in — the photographer always knows what's coming next on the timeline.
- How many photos do we receive and when?
- Coverage size depends on the photography package you choose, but because we shoot multi-day weekends couples typically receive 1,000-2,500+ professionally edited high-resolution photos delivered via private online gallery within 4-6 weeks of the event.
- How does multi-day destination photography coverage work?
- Our destination packages are built for full-weekend coverage from arrival to farewell — welcome event, getting-ready, ceremony, reception, after-party, and Sunday brunch. Every package includes a lead photographer plus assistant traveling together so no event in the weekend goes uncovered.
- Do we get a lead photographer plus an assistant?
- Yes. Every destination photography package includes a professional lead photographer and a second-shooter / assistant to capture parallel moments, alternate angles, and any cocktail-hour or after-party rooms running simultaneously.
- Can drone or video coverage be added?
- Yes. Drone aerials and full videography are optional add-ons priced into the destination package. Drone work is subject to local airspace rules at the destination — we handle the FAA permitting and coordinate with the venue in advance.
